My personal learning for the week.
The tables turned this week – although generally, I am the one to place speakers in the spotlight, I was the one placed behind the lectern, at a local networking event. There was one major learning point I took away which I wanted to share with you:
Plan to speak for the length of your presentation – not more or not less. I made the mistake of planning to speak for slightly less time than I was allotted as to be honest as I am generally very strict on timings when I run events.
However time flew – and before I knew it I was done, almost like a F1 vehicle I was at the finish line. The actual presentation was the shortest of all my practice runs!
So for next time – I will aim to plan for the required length of time in the knowledge that I will be quicker during the actual presentation.
