Sleep is for wimps – why wouldn’t you want to work 20hrs a day???
Experience and hindsight might be priceless, however, most of the time they are payable at an hourly rate! We constantly require services that are charged per hour, whether it is at the dentist, accountant, mechanic or lawyer. We pay them to do that which they are experts in e.g. pulling out teeth.
When it comes to business you too inevitably charge per hour, whether you are running your own business or whether you are part of a larger organisation. As your hours are limited and you often need to evaluate what to spend your time on – what is going to give you the best return on investment for your time? It all comes at a cost.
There are of course, ways around this issue of ‘not enough hours in the day’:
You could just work more – who needs holidays or time off anyway?
You could be more effective – stop daydreaming and spend less time on Facebook or Twitter!
Or perhaps more sensible is to acknowledge that sometimes it is best to outsource the jobs you don’t like or aren’t good at.
In our 24 hr day everything becomes a compromise and a mathematical equation. How long will it take me to do the task vs a professional? What do I enjoy doing vs. what I actively dislike? What is the cheaper option? What is most important to me?
If you enjoy running your own events then by all means keep doing it. Events are fun and you should enjoy them. But at the end of the day, if you need help to free up a couple of hours, don’t forget we are here and love to help.
